I work with students at all levels
1:1 Tuition
I specialise in GCSE English Language and Literature and have an outstanding track record of helping students achieve measurable improvements. Every pupil I have tutored has passed, with many achieving up to two grades above their predicted grades.
My approach is always centred on the individual student. I quickly identify their strengths, concerns, and goals, then set clear targets and tailor lessons to suit their learning style, enabling them to build confidence and reach their full potential.
Organisation is a key part of exam success. Each student receives a structured folder that clearly maps out the course and the areas we will work through together. Where appropriate, I am also happy to communicate with a student’s schoolteacher to ensure consistent support.
As a former Head of English, I have led a department through inspections and major exam reforms. I use clear frameworks, practical strategies, and creative approaches to help students succeed particularly in the crucial months leading up to exams.
I firmly believe that “readers are leaders.” Encouraging students to read regularly and develop a strong vocabulary is central to my teaching, as reading underpins success not only in English but across the curriculum and in life.

Groups are intentionally kept small to ensure every pupil is supported, heard, and fully involved in the learning process.
I offer group sessions for 4 or more pupils during both term time and school holidays.

Marking & Feedback
(Mocks and Exam Practice)
I offer a professional marking and feedback service for mocks, practice papers and coursework. Using my extensive experience across KS3, KS4 and GCSE English (all exam boards), I mark work specifically in line with each exam boards criteria. I support students and parents to pinpoint exactly where marks have been gained or lost to boost confidence and provide a clear route to improved exam performance.
Parents/Students receive:
Clear, constructive written feedback
Precise guidance on how to improve marks
Identification of strengths and gaps in understanding
Practical targets to focus revision effectively
This service is ideal for: students who are seeking expert insight between tutoring sessions; parents seeking reassurance about a child’s progress ahead of exams or pupils who cannot have regular tutoring sessions but will benefit from having past papers set and marked to take their grade to the next level.

I offer a personal statement guidance and editing service for students applying to university.
With extensive experience teaching advanced English and supporting students through high-stakes applications, I help applicants present themselves clearly, confidently and authentically.
I work closely with each student to:
Clarify their strengths, interests, ambitions and aspirations
Shape ideas into a clear, compelling structure
Provide a statement that reflects the student’s true voice with confidence, authenticity strength and aspiration
Whether a student is starting from scratch or needs support refining a draft, my aim is to help them submit a personal statement that is thoughtful, well-written and genuinely stands out.
