About Me

About Me

Ex Head of English & Drama
English Degree, PGCE, QTS, DBS Checked.

I am a highly experienced English teacher having worked in both the state and private school sectors. As a former Head of English, I bring deep subject knowledge, proven exam expertise and a genuine passion for English Language and Literature to each and every lesson.

I have been fortunate to work with young people and adults at all stages of their learning journey, building confidence and guiding them towards exam success. My results speak for themselves: every pupil I have tutored has passed, with the majority achieving up to two grades higher than predicted.

As a tutor, my priority is always the individual. I quickly identify each pupil’s concerns and goals, set clear targets, and design lessons around unique learning styles. I teach every student as if they were my only one, helping them achieve their full potential.

Students describe me as calm, patient and approachable. I focus on building trust and confidence, breaking down complex ideas clearly and making learning feel manageable - and even enjoyable! My lessons are structured, focused and tailor made to suit the individual: designed around the particular pupil's interests and weakness. My strategies provide formulas for success, particularly in the crucial lead up to exams - ensuring pupils understand how to revise effectively and apply newly learnt skills with confidence.

I specialise in KS3, KS4, GCSE English Language and Literature (all exam boards), IELTS, 11+ English, I.B. preparation and SEN tuition, with extensive experience supporting pupils who are homeschooled (both in the U.K and overseas) with autism, anxiety, dyslexia and other learning needs.
